ROCKET RACK supplied a customized H-steel mezzanine in Botswana to create an additional industrial storage level within an existing warehouse. The structure has a height of 4,000 mm and is designed for a uniformly distributed load of 1,000 kg/m².
A key feature of the project is its 6,000 mm column span. The wide spacing reduces the number of supporting columns and preserves a more open ground-floor area for material handling, storage and daily warehouse operations.
The project required a heavy-duty elevated platform that could add usable floor space without unnecessarily dividing the working area below. The ground floor needed to remain suitable for material movement and flexible warehouse operations, making structural capacity and column spacing the two central design considerations.
The ROCKET RACKING engineering team developed a heavy-duty steel mezzanine using H-section primary beams and columns. The structure is designed for a load capacity of 1,000 kg/m², supporting demanding industrial storage applications on the upper level.
The 6,000 mm column span provides wider clear areas between supports. A steel staircase gives personnel direct access to the upper platform, while perimeter guardrails help define and protect the elevated working area.
